Andrew Lloyd Webber has given the culture secretary an introduction to the fogging machines, silver ions and thermal imaging cameras he hopes will allow the curtains to rise once again in the countrys theatres.

Lord Lloyd-Webber welcomed Oliver Dowden to the London Palladium last week to showcase the Covid-secure protocols imported from South Korea where live performances in front of audiences have already restarted.

Trials are being conducted at the theatre on the use of thermal-imaging cameras, with the back-up of contactless thermometers, to check the temperatures of audience members and staff. Silver ion hygienic door handle covers, which are effective against other pathogens, have been fitted, while fogging machines, which coat fabrics such as carpets with anti-viral chemicals, are also being used.

Of course, Geldof may have to be a little more static. Palladium stage is pretty big, so no need for band to be in close contact. And if worst come to worst they can give every one a rat mask as they come in. 2,000 rats, would be pretty cool.

I agree. I suspect most of 2021 will be written off too. In fact, because of how coronaviruses mutate, hopes of a vaccine are not high, so it could be years before either slow motion herd immunity and/or virus weakening and vastly improved treatment options permit close-proximity activities like music gigs.

I think sit down gigs like the Palladium could happen by October. Some one off shows have being rescheduled to the Palladium from other London venues. Another thing that makes the Rats gig a little more likely is it is not a sell out, and it would be possible to relocate people and have some gaps. However, I am not willing to give up my aisle seat in the second row of the stalls to sit at the back of the upper circle.

Can't see any of the general admission gigs happening.

Vociferous singing and chanting is a tremendous vector of the virus. A Rats gig will be one of the last to make a return.

Can't stay inside forever. I would take the risk in a large auditorium like The Palladium for a seated event with all the precautions. Was in a cafe last weekend, lots of perspex screens and the windows wide open. It's the pub and the underground that I am not going to go near again, though Sad Case Khan extending the hours of the congestion charge hasn't helped. Not going to a general admission gig. Anyway, off to a restaurant next week.

It won't be forever, just very unlikely this year and next. I'd be faced with a two hour train journey to get to London with the enclosed space risk element on top of the gig risk. I could drive but would fall foul of Sad Case Khan's spiteful, regressive congestion charge changes.

Apparently the congestion charge increase in price and duration is to encourage people to walk and cycle. I am not gonna cycle the 10 miles to the Palladium only to come out and find my bike has been nicked and then having to walk 10 miles home. I bet Sad Case Khan doesnt walk and cycle in and out of London from Tooting. I pay for the sh!t hole London Assembly, but cant use the underground and now have to pay £15 to drive in for a night out.

As central London is now effectively out of bounds, will I get a rebate from Sad Case Khan? Will I fcuk!!!

Sad case Khan is a complete idiot who authorised the flying of Donald Trump baby blimp over Westminster when the USA are our biggest allies and who we will need in the post Brexit world which Treason May and BoJo watered down.

Another thing Khan has done is normalised terror attacks by claiming they are part and parcel of living in a major city- terror incidents are not normal they are cowardice from the perpetrators who want to change our way of life and it is normally always an Islamist perpetrator- we haven't done well for a while and it remains a matter of when and not IF. We have 23,000 Jihadists living in the country and Khan conceded approximately half of these reside in London on TV recently.

I find it ironic he screamed blue murder that Trump was coming to the UK and he opposed banning Farrakhan who was considered a terrorist by US authorities before Trump. He also shared a platform with some dodgy radical Islamists and no one calls him out on it.

Then you also have crime.

If you look at the December 2017 Mayoral Policing report it shows that violent crimes are up by double digit percentage points and as you say, you'd be highly likely to find your bike gone in the circumstances you describe. Knife crime has soared.

Now you have the congestion charge debacle.

He is a useless mayor and it is to be hoped he is relieved of his role soon. How did a great City like London end up with such a hapless, biased mayor under whose watch nothing has got better?

Unlikely as he cancelled the election this year. London ended up with a mayor because in a Blair referendum, they voted for it. For the record, I voted against it. London never needed a mayor and the three we had have been useless.
